A Michael Jackson tribute is also confirmed for the awards show, airing live June 27.
[artist id="502642"]Eminem[/artist], [artist id="1270"]Usher[/artist], [artist id="503203"]Alicia Keys[/artist] and [artist id="1998098"]T-Pain[/artist] have been added to the performance lineup of the BET Awards '10, going down on June 27 in Los Angeles. The hitmakers will join a star-studded bill that includes previously announced performers Kanye West, Drake, T.I., Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross and Ludacris.
A BET rep also confirmed that a Michael Jackson tribute is slated for this year's show, hosted by rapper/actor Queen Latifah. The 2009 event became an impromptu MJ homage after the icon died just days before the awards show aired. Host Jamie Foxx memorably Moonwalked and spoofed Jackson's "Beat It," and stars like Ne-Yo, Ciara and Keri Hilson paid homage to the icon during their performances.
Rolling Stone reported on Thursday (June 17) that BET insiders confirmed viewers can expect a performance of the monster collaboration "All I Do Is Win," featuring DJ Khaled, T-Pain, Ludacris and Rick Ross. The magazine also teased that the "All I Do Is Win" collabo is set to feature a special guest.
Jay-Z leads this year's BET Awards nominations with five nods, including Best Male Hip-Hop Artist and Video of the Year for both "Empire State of Mind" and "Run This Town" off his hit The Blueprint 3. Beyoncé, Alicia Keys and Drake also picked up multiple noms, with Mrs. Carter and the soon-to-be Mrs. Swizz Beatz both vying for the Best Female R&B Artist trophy and Drake competing with Hov for Best Male Hip-Hop Artist. Teen sensation Justin Bieber also received a nod for Best New Artist.
Soul singer John Legend will be honored with the Humanitarian Award for his philanthropic work while the legendary Prince will also be celebrated: The Purple One will receive the ceremony's Lifetime Achievement Award. This year's show, to be broadcast live from the Shrine Auditorium in L.A., will mark the 10th anniversary of the BET Awards.

Usher's 11-year-old stepson was declared brain dead by doctors after he was accidentally hit by a jet ski while playing in a lake on Friday.
REUTERS/Phil McCarten Usher, who is pictured here at the 2012 BET Awards in Los Angeles, July 1, 2012, has learned that his 11-year-old stepson Kyle Glover has been declared brain dead by doctors.
According to TMZ, Kyle Glover, who is the son of Usher's ex-wife Tameka Foster did not show any brain activity since he was admitted to the hospital on Friday. TMZ reports that it has not been decided as to whether the family will take him off life support.
Glover was riding on an inner tube with a friend on Atlanta's Lake Lanier when they were struck by a man riding a jet ski, according to police. Officials said the boy was struck in the head and knocked immediately unconscious. He was airlifted to a nearby hospital.
The teenage girl with Glover sustained a broken arm and a laceration to her head and was also hospitalized.
Sgt. Mike Burgamy of the Department of Natural Resources reported that a boat was pulling Glover and his friend on an inner tube when they were struck by a jet ski operated by a 38-year-old man. The man was reportedly part of the same group on an outing on the lake.
Burgamy said no charges have been filed though it's too early to tell. He also said that alcohol did not play a role in the accident.
Both Usher and Tameka visited Glover at the hospital. Usher chartered a plane for Tameka to fly in from out of town to be with her son. Tameka has reportedly not left the hospital since she arrived there.
Several music stars have sent their prayers to Usher via Twitter:
Fantasia tweeted, "Everyone please pray for Usher and Tameka's son! This is the time they really need your prayers."
Russell Simmons tweeted, "praying Usher and Tameka's son is ok…"

BET told viewers their annual awards ceremony would be a number of different things. Lit was at the top of that list and they weren’t subtle in telling us how lit said event would be. What they didn’t share in advance, however, is just how political the event would be. Aside from making Jesse Williams everyone’s new favorite write-in candidate, the ceremony showcased black entertainers using their platform to influence a worldwide audience to exercise their rights this November. Actually, I think it’s fine to can the euphemisms at this point and cut through the bullspit because they clearly had one target in mind: Donald Trump.
Tarji P. Henson accepted her award let the world know how important this election is. “I’m really not political,” she told the crowd, “but it’s serious out here. For those who think, you know, ‘He’s really not going to win’ — think again. So we really need to pull together and turn this country around.”
Rather than shoutout her next project or promote the next season of Empire, she decided it would be best to motivate people who look like her to take action and not stay home.
This election was always going to be an interesting one for the black community as we head to elect the person to succeed President Obama. In 2008, the black vote went up from past elections but in 2012, a greater percentage of eligible black voters (66%) voted more than white voters (64.1%) for the first time in history. In both elections, Obama won the black vote by ridiculously large numbers, and the fear among Democrats is that black voters may not be as motivated this time as they were in the past two cycles.
Then along came Donald Trump.
A man whose journey to the White House scares a lot of people. Whether it’s his feelings towards Hispanics, Muslims, women, or his claims that he’d be “great for the blacks,” not all minorities see this as a match made in heaven. Rather than sit on the sidelines. BET allowed its hosts and performers to exercise their freedom of speech.
It went even further when Tracie Ellis Ross left no doubt as to whether she’s voting and who she’ll be voting for.
“This is such an important election. I heard that one of the largest, most influential demographics are single women in this election. So basically, technically, what that means is I will be determining the next election: Welcome to the White House, Hillary Clinton!”
There’s more. Before presenting an award, Terrence J juxtaposed the Brexit and our own country’s political situation.
“From the U.K. separating from the European Union to the domestic terrorism that’s taking place in our own backyard, now more than ever it’s important to realize that your vote is your voice,” he said. “In the U.K., their vote ended in a Brexit, leaving people emotional on both sides of the fence. If we do not vote smart in this upcoming election, trust me guys, we will be feeling the same way. Make sure you’re registered. And stay woke.”
Terrence J’s referring to how millions of Brits flocked to Google to find out not only what the European Union is, but how leaving it affects them. Some of them even claimed they were sold a bill of goods by an angry man with a blonde wig and didn’t fully understand the ramifications of their actions. A sentiment echoed by Samuel L. Jackson, who felt compelled to speak up after the hearing Jesse preach.
“Make sure you vote and take eight more people to vote, okay?” Jackson told the audience. “Don’t get tricked like they got tricked in London, all right?”
Finally, there was Usher in all of his “No Limit” glory. Rather than beat around the bush or — no pun intended — dance around it, he was blunt. His “Don’t Trump America” shirt was the exclamation point on a night full of political statements.
Gone are the days when celebrities had to be apolitical out of a fear of messing up the cash flow. Well, either that or the days are still here but this generation just doesn’t care. Last night, there was a gathering of influential voices in the black community who decided to take a stand. They didn’t cower to the “silent majority” and decided if black people truly want to make America great, then they need to do something about it and not sit on the sidelines.
This year, in this moment, there’s nothing more lit than that.
"The BET Awards Get Political To Stop Donald Trump"
This was quite amazing to see BET allow the presenters and other performers to be this political given it is a major tv network with its most marquee event of the year. It was fascinating to see how they would basically talk around saying “Don’t Vote for Trump” outside of Usher and Ross but everyone knew exactly what they urging for in pushing people to vote responsibly this fall.
Yes, the performers at the BET awards won’t stand for any sort of exclusionary bullspit!
Hillary will surely lift you out of your rut, guys…
Because nothing says exclusionary like a gay white British dude winning the BET Award for Best New Artist.
I’m sure BET will be responsible for moving that last 2-3% of the black vote Hillary doesn’t have into her column.
Well, the ones that vote anyway
Gone are the days when celebrities had to be apolitical out of a fear of messing up the cash flow. Well, either that or the days are still here but this generation just doesn’t care.
lol you think so? Nah bruh Viacom is letting that go because they know 1. it will give them ratings and have people talking to them and 2. most of their demo are liberals and kids
Ain’t shit changed but the names. Remember Vote or Die?
Possibly homie. You might be 100% right but I do like the way it looks and I’m not mad that they were allowed to state their feelings
I’ve been impressed with the direction that BET is going in for a while now. Seems like they’re finally feeling empowered to cater to a more mature black audience.
